CREAT A DYNAMIC E-MAIL SIGNATURE WITH WISESTAMP.COM

by Jenn

wisestampI got this from Duane Lester, of AllAmericanBlogger.com, and RFCRadio.com (Radio for Conservatives), tried it, and like it.

WiseStamp.com allows users to add a dynamic, interactive signature to outgoing e-mails which includes photos, links to e-mail, websites/blogs, social networks, and IM profiles. It works in web-based e-mail applications like gmail, Yahoo, MSN, and AOL. Unfortunately, it only works in FireFox right now, but there is a sign-up list for a notification when it is available in Internet Explorer.

Basically, to use the service, go to WiseStamp.com, and download the application, which will be displayed in your “Tools” menu of your FireFox browser. Click on the link, and follow the directions to customize your signature.

PROMOTE YOUR BLOG WITH TWITTERFEED

by Jenn,(Updated from July 22, 2007)

Mario, of London, has created an application to automatically update Twitter with your blog feed called TwitterFeed.

The sign-up process is quick and easy. You’ll need a Twitter account, an OpenID, WordPress or Yahoo account, and the address of the feed on your blog. Once you have those three things, go to TwitterFeed, and follow the quick sign-up process.

Voila! TwitterFeed will check your feed, and update Twitter as often as you like, with as many posts as you like.

TwitterFeed is a third-party application, and is not affiliated with Twitter.com.

Prolific bloggers (who update several times a day) may want to consider having one Twitter account for their blogs, and a separate one for personal updates to avoid “over exposure,” and the loss of followers on Twitter. As an example, @FortHardKnox is for blog updates, whereas several of the regular bloggers on Ft. Hard Knox (several of whom also have their own blogs) also have their own Twitter accounts, and individual networks of followers and friends, such as @Goodwyne (Ron), @GhostRanger (Tex), @StephenKruiser, @ZackRawsthorne (Diversity Lane), @TheDrakingPoint (Drake Dunnaway), @ArlenWilliams, @FaultlineUSA (Barb), and @JennSierra.

KIDS FOR CHRIST: ALWAYS PREACH THE GOSPEL; WHENEVER POSSIBLE, TEXT THE MESSAGE

From KFCUSA.org

On April 23 the students in the high school Bible club “Fuse” had the first of two very unique messages. Bob Heath, founder of Kids for Christ USA, had a crazy idea, one of those that are “so crazy they just might work”.

“The idea was to get all the students to join a ‘text group’ for FUSE (The name of the group). Then I gave them all about 24 hours to text what they wish that they could hear someone teach, then I would teach them via text message(s),” said Heath. When the deadline arrived, Bob had two very good questions sent to him by the kids:

  • "What does the power of God look like?"
  • "If God is in control, how do we have free will?"

“I knew that I would likely get some great questions,” said Heath. Since the system Bob used was a free service, there was an advertisement with each text. Bob went on and explained, “This complicated things a smidge, because instead of having 160 characters per message I only had 92. This made my message a 15 part text message, but it worked.” The message went out to the students on Thursday, and on Friday at the club the students went over a list of scriptures and questions relevant to the “Text Message”.

David, a participant in the club in his junior year of high school said, “It was really cool! We re-read the whole message and then all just shared our personal views. I think everybody shared something. It was cool!”

This week, the format will be the same as the second topic is discussed. “This one will stretch me to keep it short, but make the point,” says Heath. Bob is sharing this concept in an effort to get others to use it, too. He is hoping to use the “text group” to communicate with the group more effectively, as well as send short devotional thoughts to them.
In Bob’s eyes, this is just adapting the Apostle Paul’s statement about becoming all things to all men. “Texting has become one of, if not the primary, communication language of today’s teen. Sometimes reaching kids mean we as adults need to adapt.”
